Tools, not Feelings

This course is aimed at adults on the autism spectrum who are interested in acting. Our topics will include the actor’s self-steering, the building of play sequences, the creative use of space and a training of interactionability with play partners. We pay special attention to the refinement of the actor’s speaking voice and to meticulous work with dramatic texts from world literature. The course is an artistic course and expressly has no therapeutic ulterior motives. It though does offer an opportunity to artistically acquire some additional interpersonal tools, not in order to become more ‘social’, but rather, fully non-normative, to gain more individual options for choice of action in accordance with personal values and personal potential. The course is part of a teaching material development, so participation is free of charge. It is an open course, participation on single dates is possible.

Anne Frütel is a trained actress and director and has been teaching acting for twenty years to anyone who wanted to learn it. She has an Asperger’s diagnosis herself and has been occupied all her life with trying to find out how humans function. She has taught herself her own interpersonal skills largely through acting.

“Ultimately, what’s so great about Anne’s lessons is that you have fun learning because you don’t feel any pressure to get everything right.”
“If you want to know how far you can go out of yourself, if you want to learn to let go of your inhibitions, if you want to try yourself out without someone constantly correcting and reprimanding you, then Anne is the right place for you.”
